.com domain expired so why does .co.uk domain no longer work
-
I bought both the .co.uk and .com for this site chilternhomeopathy.co.uk and the .com has expired which I thought was OK as I don’t really need that one and the .co.uk expires in November.
But as of Sunday when the .com expired the site is no longer visible. If I delete the .com domain will my .co.uk be visible again as it hasn’t expired?
Many thanks,

Have you set the .co.uk as your primary domain?
If you haven’t, check out: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/. And skip to “Setting the Primary Domain.”

Hi,
Yes I set .co.uk as the primary domain but then why I go to delete the .com it says are you sure you want to do this as your site may not work if you do.
If I have .co.uk as the primary domain and delete the .com should all still work?
Many thanks for your quick reply. Fantastic support from WordPress.com.

Hi,
Just to update you that I cancelled the .com that I no longer required and that made the .co.uk visible again. So all good!
I will mark request as resolved.
Many thanks.

That’s weird, since .co.uk is set as the primary domain your site shouldn’t default to .com. It must either be a delay in processing the request or a bug. When did you change it?
Because you no longer need .com, there’s no harm in deleting it. But it likely won’t resolve the issue because .com is still “acting” as the primary domain.
