    I want to run a blog site with a series of educational videos and a discussion forum.

    Can I do that with wordpress.com or do I need to use the software and host it myself?

    WordPress.com does not host forums, but you can have one elsewhere and link to it.

    If you want to host videos here, you’ll have to get the video upgrade and the space upgrade.

    If you are fine with hosting videos elsewhere, like on YouTube, and just posting them to the blog instead of having them hosted here, you can do that.
