.com? .org? THIS IS SO STUPID.
-
I am SO FRUSTRATED.
All I want is a freakin wordpress site where I can upload motherloving THEMES. Why is this so ridiculously complicated? Who is the genius who thought it would be awesome to have two sites with the same name?
I feel like I’ve tried everything out there online since I’ve been sitting at this computer for SIX hours.
I host with dreamhost. I do their “quick install” which still leaves me with my site hooked up with .com instead of .org. .Com has my nameserver (hostage), but it looks like even if I pay their $12 fee (stupid), they still won’t let me upload themes.
OMG. Please help. I am beyond frustrated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You just need to point your nameservers to Dreamhost following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

You did not post the name of the domain name you are asking about but a whois
http://who.is/whois/sarahthompsonphotography.com/ shows that sarahthompsonphotography.com has the name servers pointing to Dream Host – it can take a few hours for the changes to migrate across the internet.
You can watch the changes migrate across the internet here: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/sarahthompsonphotography.com

Now it works on my iphone but not my computer. I cleared my cache and dns. I changed over from explorer to chrome. Still directs me to the .com dashboard.
It’s totally fine on my iphone but I can’t build my site from the phone!

http://www.sarahthompsonphotography.com/ sends me to a plain blog powered by Photocrati – light colored site with “Gallery” in the top bars among other choices – the changes are working

It does work on my phone. How long until my computer will direct it? Anything else I can do?
-
You are sort of stuck – the stock answer is “changes take 24 to 72 hours but many changes start sooner” – out side of clearing your browser cache and such not much else.
The final changes depend on things like when your ISP updates their router tables and caches – also it seems that the last person in the world to see the new site is the site owner – my two sites were that way and yes it was a bit nerve racking waiting to see my new site.

What I did and I have been through this more than once was to find something else to do. Patience grasshopper :)

I thought about suggesting she take a walk and have a Latte but she is a bit nervous – yes once the changes are made it just takes time – at least she is not doing what a few have done – change settings every few hours because they can’t see the changes – and that restarts the clock for having the changes migrate and settle down.
-
I probably should take a walk. Or a nap since I was up all freaking night with this junk.
Or perhaps I should sit and watch a pot boil instead.

Yes indeed we do see that happen. We live in a world where many believe everything happen must a instantaneously. As a long-time forest dweller, and a free bird, I can and I do “disconnect” frequently and I recommend others so the same too. :)

Yes, that link will automatically redirect me here:
http://sarahthompsonphotography.wordpress.com/wp-login.php/Except on my phone, where it works just fine. SMH.

Ah, then no further suggestions to make other than to echo the one above about patience. Sorry.
-
Sorry we cross posted. Having the link redirect to WordPress.com log in page doesn’t sound right regardless.
