.com to .org – need to keep same theme?

  I have a wordpress theme “Neo-Sapien by Small Potato” and want to transfer it over to my own server for more control of interface changes.

  I did a search for this on the wordpress.org theme area and couldn’t find it. Does this mean I have to stay on the .com if I want to keep this theme?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Not all themes are in the repository. I did a google search for you and found the theme author’s site with a version from a few years ago, and it might be the only one still available:

  http://www.wpdesigner.com/2006/06/19/neo-sapien-wordpress-theme-release-3/

  Browse through the themes at .org when you have some time. You might well find one you like better.

  Thanks for your response, Ellaella.

  I think I’ll stay with the current one as I can’t find it on .org themes.

  I just wanted some more control as we do with the .org.

  Do you know if there is any chance we can delete the category link and/or comments link at the bottom of blog posts?

  You’re welcome. The Neo-Sapien I linked to is for self-hosted blogs using the wp.org software. You’d just be downloading it from the author instead of the repository at wp.org.

  One thing I will add is that the original theme designer for neo-sapien sold the wpdesigner site and themes to someone else, and there have been no updates to that them since then, and since that time wordpress has added several features that require themes to be updated such as threaded comments, and the image captions, so the theme is a little behind. Also, there were changes with 2.7, and the upcoming 2.8 versions of the wordpress software that may require themes to be updated to work properly with 2.7 or 2.8. It all depends on how the original theme was designed, and if they used certain wordpress functions.

  I appreciate your quick replies and help.

  I’ll stay with the .com on this particular site as it is for a date-specific event and won’t need as much maintenance as a normal website requires.
