.com vs. .org
-
I think as a test, I started playing around on wordpress.com but now I am actually building a ‘real’ blog on .org. To keep things clean, I want to delete everything on .com but I do not want to risk losing or changing anything on my site that I’m creating on .org
It looks like the accounts are linked somehow.
Make sense? -
I think people can create “real” blogs here too! When you say accounts are linked that is unlikely as your .org site will be hosted with a completely different company. Perhaps both accounts use the same email address? You could delete your WordPress.com account but there is the possibility that it could be useful in the future as the WordPress.com JetPack plugin is very popular as it adds many features to self hosted sites.

To add to that – if you use Jetpack, then your .org account will be linked to your .com account. I also agree that WordPress.com is very much real, and if you opt for the business plan, it offers just as much customization and flexibility as on any other host, for a pretty comparable price.
