.com vs .org Blog Stats and account
-
Hey guys,
I got my API key from wordpress.com, registered my blog with wordpress.org, and set up the blog stats plugin on my .org account, but with the .com API key (since there is none for the .org site).
For some reason though the stats aren’t showing up on blog stats…there are stats because they are showing up on Google Analytics as always.
Did I miss something?

Maybe you should be asking your question in the wordpress.org forum, since this question relates to a wordpress.org blog.
-
I’m going to check the footer thing…
Rosclarke: are the two blog stat systems different?
-
-
-
Yes but the API key is used for the .ORG version
WordPress.com or WordPress.org ? The difference.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1you need WordPress.ORG -> http://wordpress.org/support/

Oh, and there is no plugin readme. The wordpress site just said to just create the “stats” php file and install it on my dashboard, and enter the API key.
5 mins to install…what a joke…

This is something that falls between both sites.
If you post at .org and say the stats don’t work they assume it’s Akismet so send someone here.
If you post here and say the stats don’t work you could be sent to Akismet or .org
So…..1. Check your akismet key is correct
2. In your (wordpress.org) blog check that the akismet configuration screen has a green bar.
If it does not, contact Support at http://akismet.com
3. Make sure you have read the plugin readme. You must add a line of code to your theme footer for the stats to work. (Wait a short time to see if stats appear)
4. Login at wordpress.com and try to see your stats
This should solve most problems. If it does not contact Support here – ask for the issue to be passed to me.
I will need
– your akismet key
– your website (blog) address
– everything you have tried
I can then see what can be done. -
dantplayer – please send in detail to Support. I can’t help more without knowing more info.

Actually, open your theme footer file and make sure it has this there:
<?php wp_footer(); ?>
That is essential.

WordPress.org is open source, so theme designers don’t necessarily conform to the common code.
Follow marks advice…
<?php wp_footer(); ?> should be in THE FOOTER between <body></body>if this doesn’t work, try a different theme ans see if the Stats work.
Sometimes it can be a buggy theme can give you headaches.
-
Still nothing. But before I do anything else I’m going to try to install Akismut and see what I get. I’ve been trying to get Blog Stats working.
-
Alright, it’s finally working now. It must have been the <?php wp_footer(); ?>.
Thank you for your kind help Mark. Analytics are so important I really didn’t want to skip/miss out on this.
