Combine month- and year-based folders

    Hi
    What would happend if i combine all my image folders into one
    eg uncheck Organise my uploads into month- and year-based folders
    1/ will same name files overwrite each other?
    2/ will it rename files adding a -2 at the end
    anything else i should be aware of please
