Coming back to wordpress after pointing URL to Squarespace
-
Hi there,
I originally created my site on wordpress.com and then pointed it towards Squarespace since the platform seemed easier. Now, I have outgrown Squarespace and want to re-point back to WordPress. However, I’ve heard that I need to use wordpress.org in order to have a fully customizable site.My questions are: How do I re-point my URL to WordPress.org? And, will I be able to keep my Squarespace site live while I am building the WordPress site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First of all, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are not the same. More info on what’s different – https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ And yes, in order for your site to be fully customizable you need the self-hosted WordPress.
1) To point your domain (URL) back to WordPress.org, you should first create a website using the WordPress.org software. Then follow the instruction over here to migrate from squarespace to WordPress.
2) I’ve got no idea if you’ll be able to keep your Squarespace site live while you are building the WordPress site. You should ask them.
But hey, changing the name server records (NS) for your domain name needs some time to propagate through all DNS nodes.

Thank you so much! Just to be clear: I can build my wordpress.org site and take my time with it, and then once it’s ready, point the URL to the new site.
I mainly want to take my time building a wordpress.org site, while keeping the Squarespace site live, and then make the final switch once it’s all done.
