    cannot turn off comments on my blog

    Hi There,
    If you go to My Sites – Settings, then on the top right choose Discussion or https://wordpress.com/settings/discussion
    You will then see an option for “Allow People to Post Comments…” You can turn that option off. Please note if you have manually set a particular post to allow comments that will be overridden. Be sure to save the settings and that should turn comments off for you!

    If you have a lot of past posts and would prefer not to go back and turn off comments on each, an easy fix would be in that same screen – My Sites – Settings – Discussion, there is an option for “Automatically close comments on articles older than…” and you could set that to 1 day, so it could close comments for you on those past posts.
