Comment Area is NOT showing up on Posts
-
Hi all, I’ve been trying to fix this issue for awhile now but the comments section is still not showing up on my blog posts.
I have comments enabled in my Discussion Settings, AND in my individual post settings, the box that says “Allow Comments” is check marked.
However, when I visit my posts, there is no comment box/area. Currently, I have installed the Blog Way free theme from WordPress. No other plugins was installed.
Here’s a sample post page: http://lifeonleicester.com/index.php/2017/04/16/trip-to-yarra-valley-hanrahan-winery/
Please let me know where did i go wrong. Thanks a lot!

Hi @lifeonleicester,
What I see from your shared link of your sample post page, it does not have a comment box. This is because the pages do not have comments and the link shared is a page and not a blog post.
All your blogs should be as blog posts and not pages. Blog Posts will have comments.
Also, I see you have no blogs under the Blog Posts Menu (http://lifeonleicester.com/index.php/blog/).
Here is a post that will explain the difference between a post and a page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Hope this resolves your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Khyati,
Thank you so much for your help!
I’m not quite sure where it went wrong as I have been posting my blog entries under the ‘Posts’ tab in the WP Admin. I’m not quite sure how to move the current entries to appear on the ‘Blog Post’ tab in the live blog (http://lifeonleicester.com/index.php/blog/).
I have no coding experience and have no idea on how to fix this :(
Thank you and please let me know if there are any other questions!

Hi lifeonleicester,
You should be able to enable comment on pages as well as posts. Could you jump to the page setting and scroll down to the discussion section. The setting should look like this. http://d.pr/i/NYXoG
Let me know if that help.Pauline

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for your comment!
I’m not quite sure how to get to the page setting – is that under the theme customisation tab or within WP admin itself? I’m quite confused at the moment on where to do it. Here are the tabs that I have tried opening but somehow unable to find the similar page as yours.
Please let me know if I am on the right track or how to fix this issue. Thank you so much!!

Hi lifeonleicester,
You can enable comments on your pages as well. You can find the comment section here:
Under the Pages menu, go to the page you want comments to be enabled. Edit the page. Go to the Page Settings link (You can find this in the top right side of your edit page. Under the Page Settings, Go to More Options and there you will find Allow Comments under the Discussion section.I am attaching a screenshot for your reference: https://www.screencast.com/t/qARgKz6k4
Hope this helps :)

Hi Galakhyati,
Thanks for your response!
I’m not hosting with wordpress so I am doing all my post and pages on http://www.lifeonleicester.com/wp-admin/
Here’s a snapshot of what I have done for my pages/posts: http://d.pr/i/a0Dhx0
I have enabled comments on my ‘discussions’ tab in the settings.
Am I doing something wrong? or will i require coding to make the comments box happen?
Please let me know. Thank you!

Hi lifeonleicester,
If you are not hosted on WordPress.com, I would request you to seek support on WordPress.org. As both the platforms are different. You can find the difference between WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG here.
This forum is only for websites hosted on WordPress.COM.
Here is a link to the WordPress.org support: https://wordpress.org/support/.
You will find very supportive and helpful community there. And will be able to get answers to your questions there.

Perfect, thanks so much Kyati!
I did not know that there were different support groups for the two different types of WP. Thanks again for your help :)
