Comment awaiting moderation on dailypost
-
I sent a comment on today Photo Challenge, as I often do, but it’s oddly waiting for moderation.
This never happened before.I’m in doubt something went wrong with my account, because even being also an author on blogging101january2015 I can’t post there.
Cheers, Stefano

Hi there!
Are you still having trouble posting on the Blogging101 site? And did your post go through on the Photo Challenge?
-
Hi Shawna,
yes, my comment appeared on the Photo Challenge page. I guess somebody approved it, but the anomalous thing is that comments on Photo Challenges never needed approval (I’ll try again next week).
Also posting on Blogging101 is still blocked. On the “my sites” view, Blogging101 is displayed with a lock on its left and if I select it and click on the “new post” button on top right I get a “User cannot edit posts” error message. -
Sometimes posts can be held for moderation because of the words or links inside them. This is generally nothing to worry about, especially on the Daily Post. Our editorial team is always sweeping the comments that are held. :)
Also, the BloggingU course commons are locked a week after the class wraps up. So no one can post to the January Blogging 101 site anymore.

Well, it happened again for this week Photo Challenge (https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/reward/comment-page-5/#comment-543360).
The words and link seem very plain to me: “This is my reward: http://wp.me/p16tta-E0”.
Any idea? -
The Daily Post has some specific ‘send to moderations’ rules to help cut down on spam because its such a highly trafficked site. Your comments being moderated is really nothing to worry about. It doesn’t adversely affect your account and the editorial team is very vigilant about clearing their moderated comments. :)

Hello Shawna,
sorry for bothering you again about this issue. Two weeks ago Krista explained me (https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/reward/comment-page-5/#comments) that “In the last ten days, we’ve been getting inundated with spam from hotmail accounts. To combat this, we had to place all comments bearing a hotmail email address into moderation, first so that we could review them. Now that you have approved comments, you should see them appear instantly”.
I thought that once a user’s comments are approved for one blog, all his comments on that blog from then on should be automatically approved, but still my comments to the photo challenge (like the one on yesterday’s challenge) need moderation. And of course delaying my comments appearance reduces their visibility to other fellows.
Is there any way to solve this?
Cheers,
Stefano -
The Daily Post receives a large amount of traffic, and in addition to that, spam traffic. Because of that the moderation rules on The Daily Post are often changing on a daily basis.
I currently see no comments from you still in moderation, or I’d be happy to approve them for you. Our editorial team do a great job of approve comments quickly, so I’m sure they saw the comment already.
I thought that once a user’s comments are approved for one blog, all his comments on that blog from then on should be automatically approved,
This is not always the case. A blog owner can select the setting to send comments to moderation if the author does not have a previously approved comment. But even being a previously approved author, if a comment meets a moderation rule it will be sent to moderation.
I’m sorry for any concern, but thank you for participating in the comments at the Daily Post and we’ll continue to watch that moderation queue as quickly as we can.
-
Thank you Alex, for the explanation.
Do you know whether the forced moderation for hotmail accounts will be kept for a long time or will be lifted soon?
It’s quite deleterious for the visibility on Photo Challenges because typically, and understandably, the moderation happens after the weekend while the main hype for the challenges is right during the weekend since they are published on Friday evening. -
I’m sorry, I do not know what the plan is in regards to their hotmail filter specifically. Watching a moderation queue isn’t exactly a fun thing, so I’m sure the Editorial team are always happy to remove rules when they feel a common issue has passed. They won’t leave it going any longer than they have to.
