Hi, I am totally new to this. I built a website recently using the 2016 WP Theme and got about 5-6 posts in drafts/posted when I quickly realized I needed Elementor and upgraded to PRO. I did a redesign with all the new widgets and so far loving my site I was able to do with no experience. One thing that is happening is some posts have a weird double comment box at the bottom. It’s like one is stuck from the 2016 theme. I have a friend who is pretty experienced, he was able to “javascript it out” but it seems with the WP update yesterday, it’s back. It’s really bothering me and I would like it to just go away forever. Would anyone be able to help. An example is on THIS post. It’s the box that stretches all the way across the bottom before the footer that needs to go. Thanks! I just want the one at the end of the article before the posts.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Howdy –

Thanks for reaching out. I’ll be glad to offer some advice.

Looking at that site I can see it’s hosted on Bluehost. It’s not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.

On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. We do all of that for you. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.

As you’ve also discovered there are tons of hidden costs involved with running a standalone WordPress installation. You don’t have to use any other plugins to build or design your site on WordPress.com. All of our themes are built to be mobile compatible and you can see the vast showcase, search by features, function, or design from https://wordpress.com/themes/

We can help you get this done right, and eliminate so much frustration. Your domain can be connected on our personal hosting plan for $4/month. See below. We have plans that offer more features, and storage too. You can see those here.

How things are set up now we can’t help. We just don’t have access, the site isn’t on our servers. You will need to try and talk to your hosting provider or use the volunteer network on https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ and see how that goes.

Write back with any other questions you have. I know that I dropped a bunch of information on you. We stay close by and are happy to help.
