Comment Box Not Displayed

    Hello. I’m new to wordpress and started a blog (goingoffmymeds) using the “Eighties” theme. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to make it so that the ability for viewers to comment is displayed on my blog posts. Where is the comment box?? Help!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Thanks musicdoc1. I tried all the suggestions from the link, have allowed comments via the dashboard–settings–discussion tabs. I also tried bulk editing my posts to allow comments & ping backs. After all that, when I still look at my blog there’s no comment box to appear after individual posts. The only change that’s been made is that it now says “Thoughts?” in the footer which I believe came from me adding the recent comments widget to footer one but of course there are no comments… please help. Could this be related to the theme?

    Please click this post title and scroll down to the end https://goingoffmymeds.wordpress.com/2014/12/01/how-to-combat-listlessness/

    Your blog is operating correctly. Unless you use P2, a twitter-like theme comments are collapsed on the front page of the blog. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display.

    In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

    If you are concerned readers will not find the comments section you can use a text widget http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/ to tell them how to do that and place it at the top of your sidebar.

    @laceyandrews,
    As timethief indicated, the comments box is appearing at the bottom of your posts. The comment box on the Eighties Theme is evidently titled “Thoughts?,” by default. Don’t know if you can change it.

    The comments box does not display on the bottom of the posts on the front page. You have to go to the post itself to access the box, for example, by clicking on the post title.
