Comment button

I am using a simple blog roll with a linen theme, but I want it function more like a forum (interactive/discussion). How can I add a comment box underneath every post on the home page? Sure you could click the link of each post to get to the comment form, but that isn’t intuitive. I want to add a comment button where the share buttons are. Thanks.

Comments are open on your site. Go to https://generousgracestjohns.com/2016/03/09/take-the-lead-on-world-hunger/ and scroll to the very end of the post.
Unless you use the P2 theme or the P2 Breathe theme which are Twitter-like themes, the front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display. You cannot change this.
In a new blog, one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

Comments on posts and pages are enabled by default on all WordPress blogs. However, you can enable and disable comments on WordPress.com blogs on this page Dashboard > Settings > Discussion
That is where you set up defaults for comments and other comment options http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

Thanks for the quick reply. So if I were to switch to one of the P2 themes, this would show a clear indicator for folks to leave comments? I understand the rationale of collapsing comments on front page, it would just be nice to have a comment button available (as I said, next to the share options), which would be linked to the individual post. That way, it’s clear to visitors that they can leave comments, without clogging up the front page.
