Comment count on Structure Theme homepage
-
Hi, can anyone help, please?
I am using the Structure theme and experimenting with the CSS upgrade (haven’t bought it yet; still setting it up in the free preview).
I’m trying to add a comment count on the blog homepage, in the little grey box below the featured image preview, so say next to the post title, or under the excerpt, I’d like to add e.g. “8 comments” (or, even better, a little bubble with “8” in it).
I’m really new to CSS — the fonts and spacing changes I’ve added are working fine in my preview, but as a complete novice that’s my expertise all used up, so if anyone is kind enough to reply, I’d need the code and, er, where to insert it, in detail (sorry…)
Cheers!

The good news is that there is Staff support for the custom design upgrade if and when you choose to purchase the upgrade. The bad news is you will have to wait for them to help you as the support link is not available until at 12PM UTC on Monday 4th July.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info:

You cannot add functionality via CSS. CSS is simply a styling and positioning document used by the browser to render the elements in a page.
You cannot add a comment count where there was not one to begin with via CSS. It would take “hacking” the theme PHP script files and we cannot do that here.
