Comment disappeared

  Yesterday someone posted a comment on my website. I received a ‘New comment waiting approval…’ email notification. I approved the comment and viewed it on my site. It was OK. Today it’s disappeared! No comment anywhere.

  I changed the widget title of the area where the comment was posted. Could that have caused the comment to vanish? I also changed the publication dates of a couple of posts, in an effort to get them to appear in the order I wanted.

  It was a nice comment. Want it back!

  Hi Laura,

  It looks like a comment was deleted from your site a few hours ago. Could you let me know who the comment was from? You should have received an email address in your email notification indicating the commenter.

  Yes, it was from Zandra Johnson. Her email address is:
  (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  Could it be that she deleted her own comment? I thought it was something I did wrong.

  Once a comment is submitted, the user that made the comment can no longer edit or delete it. It can only be deleted by an admin on the blog. It looks like this comment was deleted 12 hours ago. Unfortunately, once a comment is completely deleted, I’m afraid it can’t be restored.

  Do you remember potentially deleting it on accident from this interface?
