Comment display

Hi, I don’t want any comments option in most of my pages. I need it only on the about page. How do I go about it? When I looked for it, a lot of sources said, go to the wp-admin/themes folder and change the PHP tag. I understand about the tag; however where is the folder? I have tried to install wordpress software as well, however I do not have any webhosting partners.
This is what I’ve done till now. I went to wordpress.com, created my own domain and linked it to the newly created blog of mine, I am trying to make it look like a business portal. I did the necessary allowable changes on the wp dashboard. Now as far as I understand, WordPress is my hosting partner. Am I missing a step here? Can I use the wordpress s/w with wordpress as my hosting partner?
Please help. I am clueless and desperate.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The stuff you are reading is for self-hosted sites. For wordpress.COM sites (and self-hosted, there really is no reason to edit the PHP), open the pages in the editor, click on the “screen options” tab at upper right and make sure the discussion module is active, then scroll down below the text area and in the discussion module, disallow comments and then click the update button. Do that with each page you do not want comments on.
