Comment feature is broken

  • Unknown's avatar

I blog at http://trishsdiary.wordpress.com, and recently acquired http://www.heylady.net. I added the new domain to the wordpress.com domain and had it so that traffic was directed to heylady.net. It was around this time that the comment feature and my contact form broke. The words “name” “email” and “url” still appear, along with the comment box, but there’s no place to type in your name, email, or url. You can, however, type in a comment, which is fine if you’re registered and logged in to wordpress, but not so great if you’re not.

Can someone please help me? Or let me know that this can’t be resolved on the forum and I need to go to support?

    Thank you!

I think you need to contact staff as the fields are not showing up on any of your comments or in the contact form. Make sure and include the details.

Thank you! I appreciate your help. :-) I’ve contact support, and hopefully I’ll get a response soon.

    You’re welcome.

I think these troubles people are seeing are partly due to the new comment features wordpress is rolling out and the changes they are having to make to the themes to be able to implement them. There have been other themes that have had issues in the past few days as well and I expect we will see some more as the weeks go on. Staff has been quite quick in fixing the issues though so I expect the problem will be resolved shortly.

Ah, yes. I can’t wait for the threaded comments to be rolled out. That makes it all worth it.

I see that timethief did a test comment on my blog, which worked, but if he was already signed in, then commenting’s not a problem. But for people who need to fill in name, email, and url, those fields are gone. The actual words are there, but the fields are gone. Same with the contact form.

But again, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help! Even just mntioning that WordPress is working on the new comment features makes me not so anxious. You volunteers (I believe y’all are volunteers, right, those of you who work on the forum?) are so wonderful to us bloggers. Eventually this year I’ll be moving to my own domain, and while I’ll use wordpress.org, I’ll probably always look back wistfully at wordpress.com. :-)

Yes, the bulk of us here are volunteers and do this because we enjoy helping people and sharing our knowledge.

And you are quite welcome for the help.
