Comment field won't go away when disabled?

Has anyone else had this problem? I followed the enable/disable instructions and turned off the comment box on my pages, but it still shows up. Thanks ahead of time if any of you know what the problem/solution is. I even checked to see if I accidentally installed a widget and there is none activated that should put a comment box at the bottom of my pages. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who knows the solution.

Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies and then try this again.

This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.
There is not a way to turn comments on or off for all published posts and pages in a blog at once. However, you can use the bulk edit feature to change multiple posts/pages at a time.

Note: When we close comments a phrase like “comments closed” or a similar phrase will appear and it can only be removed by CSS editing after purchasing a custom design upgrade.

Thanks for your reply timethief. I unchecked all the comments buttons on the pages and also deselected all boxes in the discussion settings. I wonder if there is a glitch in the theme? I’m using chaoticsoul.

I’ve tried clearing cache… opening in different browser and on a different computer.
Tried Safari 5.1 and Google Chrome 14.0.835.186 is same story.

I really appreciate your help…. maybe I should just start over from scratch.

I’m sorry I was not able to help with this issue. You will have to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

Thank you so much for your time. No worries. I contacted the client and they approved leaving the comment fields active. Oddly enough, when I create a new page it does not have the comment box… go figure!

We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page. On older pages and posts we must edit them and close the comments on them.
