  I know there is an option to allow all comments without moderation, all comments with moderation, and allow no moderation for previously approved commenters.

  However there are people I trust and those I dont. Id like to allow some people to comment with no moderation, and those who must be approved.

  Is there a way to do this, or is it an all or nothing enterprise?

  No there is not. The closest would be allow for previously approved commenters, but once you approve one of the iffy ones, then they are out of the box.

  My suggestion, moderate all comments. It is more work, but at least you can keep the iffy ones in the box if you have to.
