Comment Form Display
-
I’m using the Goran theme, as I find its grid page useful for my site layout.
However, when I select Show Comments on a grid page, it doesn’t display the Comment Form at the bottom of the page. Is it possible to enable this?
Here’s an example of a Grid Page which has the comment options ticked, but is not displaying a form: https://albumreviews.blog/reviews/townes-van-zandt/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Where are you selecting “Show Comments” on a grid page? The relevant option in the editor of a static page is “Allow comments.” In the page editor, at Page Settings > Discussion > Allow Comments, place a check in the box in order to display comments on that page. Each page must be treated separately.

it doesn’t display the Comment Form
There is no “form” for comments. It will be just a box, labeled “Leave a Repy,” as on your posts. Is that what you’re referring to?

Hi,
Under Page Setting > More Options > Discussion, I already had Allow comments ticked, but no Leave A Reply box is displayed.
I assume it’s an issue with the Theme, as comments on the Grid Page Page Template work fine on other themes when I’ve tried changing Theme.

Hi @aphoristicalbumreviews, usually we don’t show comment forms on pages that are meant to display multiple posts, and I’m guessing the same applies to grid pages that display multiple pages. I’ll see if I can confirm though & will let you know what I find out.

@aphoristicalbumreviews.
@supernovia,On a test site, with the Goran theme activated, I was able to display a “Leave a Reply” box on a gallery page, by checking the “Allow Comments” box at Page Settings > More Options > Discussion.

Is there a setting I need to change somewhere? Here are some screenshots showing I’ve ticked Comment Form, but it’s not displaying.

@aphoristicalbumreviews,
@supernovia,Sorry, I temporarily confused a grid page template page with a gallery page, two entirely different things. Please ignore my previous post.
On the same test site, with the Goran theme activated, I was unable to show comments on a page with the Grid Page Template assigned. The “Leave a Reply” box also doesn’t appear on the Front Page Template of Goran. It does display when using either of the other templates available on Goran: Default, Alternate Sidebar, or Full Width.
Note, aphoristical, that your page “Jeff Buckley” is a child of a Grid Page Template page, so the template setting of its parent is irrelevant to whether it has comments enabled. On my test site, I am able to display the “Leave a Reply” box on a child page of a Grid Page Template page, as long as it has any of the templates other than Grid Page and Front Page assigned.
I don’t know what might be preventing comments from being enabled on the Buckley page. It appears to be assigned to the Full Width Template. Is that correct?

That’s what I noticed as well. I’ve filed an issue with our theme people & they’ll be taking a look.
Also, the Jeff Buckley page is actually set to Grid, so that’s why the comments aren’t showing there. You don’t need to use the grid template unless you plan on displaying a grid of child pages on that page, for what it’s worth.

Thank you for following it up.
I use Grid Page template for all my artist pages, so I can show a grid of all their albums. Jeff Buckley only released two studio albums, so grid is a bit of an overkill in that case.

I don’t have an ETA, but they’re usually pretty good about fixing bugs. Do you want to give it a week or so?
