Hi am new to WP and my comment form is not visible at the end of my posts. The number of people commenting is visable at the top right hand corner of post in a balloon, but people are complaining. How can I get comment form at end of post.

    Thank you

    Marie

I’m sorry but the answer is “your can’t” unless you use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display. The front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page and you cannot change this.

In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.
    You can’t.

First, can you please give a link to your blog so I can see if I can figure it out?

    Hi timethief

Is it possible that the balloon show comments or something similar be at the bottom of the post instead of the top or does this depend on the theme I have. I have noticed other people have theirs at the bottom.

Thanks but I can handle this.

    Hi Marie,

… does this depend on the theme I have

Yes. Only some themes have comment bubbles, others simply have “leave a comment” or “comments” links and where they are positioned varies from theme to theme.

This is causing me problems as non WP visitors are saying they cant see where to leave a comment. Is there a list of themes that shows where the ” leave a comment ” will appear. Also many people have told me they are not getting emails to say that I have posted. Sorry to jump all over the place.

Virtually any theme but P2 will be clearer. P2 is a special forum-like theme designed for communication among blog contributors.

If you wish you can place a text widget at the top of your sidebar asking readers to click the blog title or the comment bubble to leave a comment. I do see that some of your readers have already figured that out and that’s encouraging.

Thank you for all your help. I have added the text widget to the top of my post , so hopefully they should be able to see that.

    Thanks once again.

@baileyrosy – hopefully what you’ve done is enough, but if you do still get problems with it – I agree that the bubble comment count display is sometimes difficult to see particularly for people not used to looking for it. So, the other alternative is to switch to a different theme. If you look in the Theme Showcase you can click on different themes and see their demos, and those should show you (visually) how the theme displays comment count.

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/

Click on any theme you like the look of, then in the next window, click on the ‘see it in action’ demo.

An alternative is to go to your dashboard, look on the left, scroll down til you come to appearance, click on or hover over that and you’ll see themes. On the themes page, you can similarly find a theme you like and if you click the ‘preview’ link below any of them there it puts up a (temporary) screen showing you how it looks with your own content.
