Comment form not working for Internet Explorer on Windows XP machine.

I am using a WordPress.org installation on my own domain. A reader (a professional journalist) alerted me that she could not post a comment on one of my stories. She said this:

“I tried both leaving the comment and not leaving any comment, but when I put the pointer in the email and name fields, the cursor won’t appear. I could click the box to leave the comment, and it gave the error response that the required fields weren’t filled in. I tried to click on the fields again, with no response.”

She uses Internet Explorer. I WAS able to duplicate the problem on a Windows XP machine that I own, using Internet Explorer. However, it works for Firefox on the same machine.

I also have a netbook with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer but that worked fine.

I did some searches and saw that this problem occurred years ago but did not affect everyone. I could not find any new references but since I duplicated it so easily its bound to be affecting others. I am trying to build up my readership so this is a serious issue for me. There are still lots of folks with XP machines.
