Comment forms vs Disqus
-
Hey,
I’ve been having some trouble with a theme I installed. Check out this page, for example.
There’s the “add comment” form – which is nice – but since I’ve installed disqus, I want to get rid of it.
I’ve tried searching all the source CSS/PHP files – can’t find anything using “Add a comment” or a comment form file – but would like to not have that comment form on the bottom of the posts and just use disqus. Anybody more familiar with carrington?
Sorry if this isn’t the right place.

You are also on the wrong forum, I’m afraid. If you are manipulating PHP files, it means you have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG blog and you should follow the instructions given by the helpful supportbot.
End communication.

How do I install the Disqus plugin into my blog. It is a word press .com but I cant locate the plugins application in my main menu. Is this because the blog is currently free rather than being paid for?
-
It is because Plug-in’s are not allowed on WordPress.COM blogs – period – upgrade or not – can’t be done.

I don’t know what you are referring to. I do know that our inline commenting system on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.com beats the a$$ off the others out there, andI know that disqus cannot be used on our blogs here.
If you are having trouble with setting up comments then this is the main page > Settings > Discussion
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/Please also read what’s allowed on free hosted wordpress.com blogs and what isn’t allowed. Briefly stated if you did not personally create it then you cannot sell it on your blog. No driving traffic to third party sites > http://en.wordpress.com/tos/

My comment above was for you and this one is too. Please read this very carefully. > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ -
I understand the issue but will WP.com ever allow for comments to follow the style of more microblogging friendly systems out there? That is, allow for comments to be easily shared to sites like FB and Twitter. This isn’t about ads, more about getting more views on WP.com blogs through more integrated social media tools. Like for example having the SHARE widget appear on top of blog instead of bottom?

The sharing links work very well where they are in my experience. However, if your want to propose something Staff are available at this link on Monday. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
