Comment has only the title of my post
-
Many times I get a notice of a new Comment in my blog, but when I check to see what the person wrote, it turns out to be, perhaps just the title of my own blog.
What is this? I find no reason to publish such a meaningless Comment but I would like to know what’s going on. Is this what is called a Pingback? If so, then isn’t it supposed to go in the Pingback section??

It sounds like a pingback, but there is no pingback section. Pingbacks come in as comments and will appear in your comments section. Some people leave them and some people delete them. Your choice.

Oh….. I see. But in my Dashboard, I recall seeing a vertical rectangular box listing Pingbacks. Are these the same thing, but indexed all as a Pingback group as opposed to part of the post to which they responded?

At posts > edit comments you can filter for pingbacks to show only pingbacks in the list rather than showing all comments.
Pingbacks will always come in and be listed with comments. There is no way at wordpress.COM to list the pingbacks separately from the comments when viewing a post.
