Comment icons/avatars out-of-date
-
The icons/avatars next to comments do not update when they are changed on the social network from which they originate.
For example:
On Monday I comment on a post using my facebook details. WP pops my FB image next to my comment.
On Tuesday I change my facebook profile image.
On Wednesday I make another comment. WP pops my new FB image next to this comment but my first comment still has Monday’s image next to it. So it looks like my two comments are by two different people.
Same applies to Twitter. How do I overcome this problem?

Avatars do not change retroactively. There is no way to change this, which is one reason to be consistent in your avatars.
-
They do on virtually every other website that allows anyone to sign in with Facebook/Twitter etc.
Gravatar avatars do change retroactively. The idea of being consistent in one’s avatars is, stale.

We have no control over the images that Facebook chooses to display or over how frequently they flush their image caches. With regard to Facebook and images please see here:
- Only the first five images uploaded to a post (direct inclusion/gallery/slideshow) will be sent to Facebook. The images size has to be at least 200 x 200 pixels.
- To select which image will be used for things like Facebook Publicize, you can use a theme that supports featured images. If a featured image isn’t set or your theme doesn’t use featured images, then the code tries to pick the first image in the post or page. If no image is found, then the blavatar is used.

TT, RC, I’m sure you have the best intentions in mind, I’ve found many useful answers provided by yourselves in these forums. I can see you’re both highly knowledgable individuals when it comes to all things wp.com, but there’s no shame in quitely acknowledging that you can’t know everything. So please if you don’t know the answer keep schtum rather than quoting irrelevant support doscuments or taunting me into a debate about PR. Thank you.
