Comment Likes being tested?

  Is WordPress still spot-testing comment Likes or something? I just got an email notification that someone Liked one of my comments on my blog and I do not have comment Likes enabled.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  People are still able to like comments via the Reader and via the notification icon on the admin bar, whether or not you have them enabled on your blog. Nothing we can do about that, I’m afraid.

  Thanks. I just figured that out. My readers can like comments all they want, but I don’t want to show those Likes on my blog. And I hope there’s a setting somewhere to turn off those email notifications.

  The likes shouldn’t show if you have them disabled, as far as I know, but I could be wrong.

  As for the emails, you can disable them here: https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/ It should be the very first option.

  Thanks, kokkieh!!! I’d have never found that setting. Not sure I’ve ever seen the notifications page before. Why the heck isn’t that setting on our Dashboards under Discussion or Comments? WP, are you listening?

  That’s your account settings. If you click on your username in the black admin bar you get there. You can also get there from the Reader by hovering the mouse over your profile picture and selecting Settings from the drop-down.

  I think it’s not in the dashboard as those are global settings related to your account, while the dashboard is mostly restricted to settings for a single blog, except for the Gravatar profile. Comment like notifications are not blog-specific – you don’t get notified about every liked comment on your blog, but about only your own comments that were liked wherever you made them – which is why they’re included in the global account settings rather than the blog dashboard.

  I don’t use the reader and rarely have occasion to look at that particular dropdown menu (the one that drops down from the WordPress logo on the admin bar). But I see now the difference between blog settings and account settings. Thx for clarifying.

  Simplest way is to click on your username in the black admin bar which is always visible if you’re on a WP.com blog or your dashboard.
