Comment Moderation — Errors?

When I use “Settings / Discussion / Comment Moderation” from the site’s wp-admin screens, the results seem wrong.
1. Comments containing listed words do not go to the “pending” list (“Moderation queue”). They go to the “deleted” list, a.k.a. “trash”.
2. It seems to take up to 10 hours or more before an offending comment (as above) is removed from the live site to “trash”.
I am using the “Chateau” theme at KenOhrn.wordpress.com.

Hi there,
I see that all the test comments on your site was made using your username account. As you are the owner of the site your comments will never go to moderation or to spam, no matter what you put into them. To test this properly you’ll need to use a second account that has not been added as a user on the site.
I did just that on my own site, and all comments containing my block words were held back or deleted immediately as the case might be.
Also note that blocking or moderating based on IP address is not effective, as IPs are seldom unique any more these days, so by blocking an IP address you can block multiple users using the same ISP while intending to block only one. Blocking by username and email is more effective.
