Comment moderation question

  I checked the option to only moderate new commenters. I have one particular person whose comments go into moderation every time even though I have approved multiple comments he has left. I am not using any moderation rules or blacklists that should be flagging him. He is not using links that would trigger the excessive number of links moderation.

  Any ideas?

  Hi there,

  What is the username of the commenter in question? I don’t see any pending comments on your site, so if they again have a comment being held for moderation, please don’t approve it and let me know so I can take a look.

  PS: I had turned off moderation altogether yesterday but I turned on first time moderation again just now. I don’t know if that makes a difference or not. Mr. Hughes had not left a comment in that period.

  It looks like that user is commenting via his Facebook profile, so that might be related. If he’s re-authenticating via Facebook each time he comments, your site might be seeing it as a new commenter each time, which would explain this.

  I’ll see if I’m able to replicate this behaviour.

  OK, thanks for looking at it. I have seen other people comment using their Facebook profiles without that issue. I think his email address, Facebook user ID, and IP address have been consistent across all his comments. I checked that.
