Comment not appearing

  I received a comment on my post “Ghoulish Fun with Monster High” which I approved and then replied to. My reply is showing on the blog, but not the original comment it was in response to. I’ve been through all the settings I can find and none seem to explain this and none of the articles I have looked at seem to help

  I seem to have to do it in two steps, doesn’t happen often. Perhaps it’s when it ends up in Spam? First I have to “unspam”, THEN go to pending and approve it. Is that maybe what happened?

  The comment in question is both unspammed and approved, but is still does not appear

  @comacotoysdirect It looks like this issue has occurred because the original comment was actually a pingback, not a comment. You can tell this from the top of the comment where it says “Pingback: Norwegia”. A pingback occurs when someone links to your blog post from another post on their site. They aren’t meant to be replied to. They act more as a notification that someone else has linked to your blog rather than a comment for conversation.

  In this case, it looks like the URL was removed from the pingback (so there’s no URL pointing back to the post that they linked from). Did you by any chance remove it by editing the comment? Regarding the comment being marked as Spam, this likely occurred since it was in another language.
