Comment notification emails

Please help and advise … I’ve read the support, and I tried one workaround, I need some suggestions here how to accomplish what I need. Here’s the scoop: http://malvedos.wordpress.com is a commercial blog, and there are a couple of us behind the scenes who administer it. I know from support docs and experience that when I publish something when logged in under my own wordpress ID Sinthea (shows as Cynthia usually), the email notifications of comments come to my personal email which is associated with my personal ID Sinthea. (And, no, changing the email address on my personal ID to the blogadmin won’t work, as then work colleagues would see all mail regarding all my personal blogging and commenting activities unrelated to Malvedos blog). This is a problem – we need the notification emails to go to a special “blogadmin” email address, no matter who publishes the particular entry. I tried logging OUT of my personal ID and logging back INTO wordpress as the generic “malvedos” user id we set up (and would link to the blogadmin email), and just published something today (10 sept). And guess what – despite being logged in under that generic ID, the post shows clearly, published this date by – guess who – Cynthia. So…is there any way to get around this? I’m irritated it insists on pulling my personal ID even when I’m logged in under a different id and password – doesn’t seem fair!! What can I try next? any suggestions welcome, and thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

One other note: yes, Settings / General / email address is set to desired blogadmin email, but it seems – from support docs – that just plain won’t be picked up for comment notification purposes. thanks again.

Notification emails go to the author of the post. If you want to author posts on a work blog, you need to create a separate account just for those posts to keep the notifications separate.

design simply – your suggestion to “create a separate account” – sorry, but exactly what do you mean? – if by that you mean different login ID – I tried that when I logged in as user name “malvedos” instead of “sinthea” Despite my being logged in as user ID malvedos, the blog showed “author” as Cynthia, not “malvedos” (which it does show when my colleague publishes with the “malvedos” login). And the comments so far on that posting have all gone to my personal email. So… it seems as if logging in with a different ID doesn’t work. And, fyi, I did double check, when I logged in as malvedos – and my drop down list of “my blogs” showed only those associated to that malvedos ID, and did NOT show my personal blogs associated only with Sinthea. So, thanks, but…different login ID didn’t work. Any clarification or other suggestion from the audience?

Yes: are you using the same email for both IDs?

Hi Raincoaster No, I just double checked, and as i thought, the “malvedos” id profile only has email set to a colleague’s personal email at work, and of course link to blog url. Nothing else I can find on My Profile page or Personal settings page – and as this was created a year before my arrival on the scene, and I have until now used only my own ID, there would NOT be any link to me associated with it. Malvedos blog has General Settings email address to the blogadmin as desired, shame it doesn;t get used !! I think what’s bothering me most right now is that i was logged in as “malvedos” but the wretched thing still showed “posted by Cynthia.” It should NOT have done that, right??? I had thought just using the different ID, linked to blogadmin address, was the solution. What else can I try? thanks

I think you are going to need staff intervention on this one, and that will likely have to wait till the 19th.

Ok… thanks Raincoaster. What’s the etiquette here – do I leave this open till I can contact / get response from Support, or do I close it now? If close it now, can you do that? Thanks for help.
