Comment notifications not coming through to my email

Hey Sherrey,
That’s very odd. We show that the emails are going out correctly and being accepted by your email server for the comment notifications on your latest post “7 Benefits of Reading for Writers”. Can you let me know if you’re receiving the “Like” notifications on that post?

Jeremey, I’m not receiving anything. It’s really odd because I have only one account with WordPress, so my email for my two blogs is the same and I’m having no problems with the other one.

Too odd! Jeremey, I know you’ll get it figured out and I’m perfectly fine with doing my own monitoring — for awhile. No, I can’t think of any changes made to my email account settings. Just to be sure I checked all three email accounts (one primary, two secondary) and none of the settings appear to be different than when set up three years ago. Sorry I couldn’t help you out by saying, “Oh, I found the problem!” :)

The only difference between your two main blogs is that sherreymeyer.com was flagged by our automated anti-spam controls. I have reviewed your site and have removed the flag. This shouldn’t affect the notifications you’re receiving, but I’m going to give it a try just in case. Can you let me know if anything changes in the notifications?

Jeremey, are you sitting down????? I just rec’d a comment notification on my latest post “7 Benefits of Reading for Writers”! Woohoo! I think you found the problem whether it should or shouldn’t have affected my notifications. Thanks so much! You have been a patient prince of a fellow, and I’m so appreciative.

Sigh … this morning new comments to my blog for post titled “11 Writing Tips from Henry Miller” — no notifications. That one yesterday must have somehow leaped over the gremlin and snuck in.

Did you receive all notifications for the post “7 Benefits of Reading for Writers” or just a handful? Is there any difference in how you published the two posts (one from Windows Live Writer and another from directly inside WP.com for example)?

Hey, Jeremey — for the post “7 Benefits of Reading for Writers” I received notification for the last comment only. I only post from directly inside WP.com; never use Windows Live Writer.

So, they seem to be coming through intermittently, which is progress in the right direction! :) Let me go back to the drawing board and investigate more. I’ll update you as soon as possible.

Jeremey, an interesting twist on this mystery. If you look at my post “11 Writing Tips from Henry Miller” and the one titled “7 Benefits of Reading for Writers,” you’ll see a comment on each from Carol Bodensteiner. On each of Carol’s comments, I received a notification, the only notifications I’ve received since we started trying to unravel this.

Jeremey, may I make this a little more puzzling? I received a comment on the post, “11 Writing Tips from Henry Miller,” (no notification of comment), and the commenter pointed out that although she is still following my blog, she is not receiving notification of new posts. Is there a chance the two are related?

Hi Sherrey!
The user that you’re referring to has blocked us from sending her notification emails. Can you ask them to navigate to this link when logged in?
https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/
From there, they will need to uncheck “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com”. They should start receiving email notifications again!

Not a problem! I don’t believe that’s at all related to you not receiving notifications, but let me know if for some reason you start receiving comment notifications from her.

Hi Jeremey! Thought I’d let you know I posted a new piece on my blog yesterday, 6 Blogs to Recharge Your Writing. So far, 4 comments to the post but no notifications. Not intending to bring any pressure. Just thought you’d want to know. :)
