Comment notifications not coming through to my email
-
Hey Sherrey,
Thanks for passing this along. By any chance have you been in contact with Comcast at all about them potentially blocking @wordpress.com emails or something of the sort?
-
I haven’t contacted Comcast. If they had blocked WordPress emails, it seems I wouldn’t be getting them for my other blog, right? Or am I missing something? I have no problems with anything except this one blog. I’m almost tempted to start it all over again … can I do that without any problem? Seems it could be kinda confusing.
-
You’re correct; if Comcast were the issue, it seems like you would have trouble with your other blog as well. I don’t think you need to start your blog all over! We’ll get to the bottom of this.

Hi Jeremey! Wanted to touch base as there is an odd pattern recurring on my blog. New post went up this morning, “What to Do When the Book You’re Writing Throws You a Curve Ball.” That post has rec’d 12 comments. Only one of them came through as an email notification, the one from Carol Bodensteiner. During this entire issue, Carol’s comments are the only ones I receive a notification about. What does this say about Carol, or what does it say about the 11 others that didn’t come through?
-
Hey Sherrey,
Sorry for the delay on the response. That pattern you describe is very interesting. The only thing I can think of is that Carol’s comment is somehow different than the others, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m pinging other members of the team to see if they have an idea of what could be the cause. I’ll get back with you as soon as possible.

Hey Sherrey,
Just checking back in. We haven’t forgotten about you! Have you noticed any additional changes in the emails being delivered to your inbox?
-
Alas, dear Jeremey, only one diversion from the current norm and that is one additional commenter who made it through the barracade of “no notifications” — Joan Hall on post titled “How to Increase Your Writing Productivity.” You know I’m patient, so take your time. There may be other matters more pressing than mine. :)
-
Well, shoot. That doesn’t demonstrate a pattern at all as the two comments (Carol and Joan) don’t seem to share anything related. We’re continuing the investigation!
-
Jeremy, good news! Today’s post generated notifications via email for reblogging, comments, and likes. It hasn’t done so much emailing in a long while. Let’s hope it continues!

Jeremey, waaaaaaaah! Suddenly, starting with a comment on 6/22 on my post, Tips for Rewriting Your Manuscript, Part 2, notifications ceased after coming in for a solid week or more. Also, a post from today, Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou, isn’t generating notifications of comments now either. So sad!
-
Hey Sherrey,
I’m so sorry for this. I’ll dig in again and try to find out the root cause. We haven’t been able to track it down just yet.

Jeremey, we’re now receiving notifications AGAIN! It always feels so good to know that WordPress is back in action when Twitter isn’t (yes, I’m not getting those either). Wondering if it was something I said. Anyway, I’ll let you know if the notices stop.
BTW, is that new photo? Looking pretty cool behind those dark glasses!

Hey Sherrey!
Glad we’re back up and running again. Sorry for the intermittent delivery. As for the sunglasses, those are WordPress.com shades. If you scan the forums, you’ll likely see quite a few staff members wearing them! :)
