Comment option not showing up
-
Hi–
My blog: http://eatyourcolors.wordpress.com/
I’d like people to be able to comment on my last post, but the comment option doesn’t seem to be there.
This is what is currently in my CSS box:
p.tagged {
display:none;
}p.num_comments {
background:none;
}.post_meta {
display:none;
}Is it possible to enable comments for only certain posts, but not all? For example, this last post I made, but not any of the previous ones? How do I do that?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh, and BOTH the “Allow comments” and Allow trackbacks and pingbacks” are checked for this post.

I figured out how to add the comment option back.
BUT….is there a way to specify that I’d want people to be able to leave comments on only certain posts and not ALL?
-
You can turn off comments on a particular post. The option is under the edit page of a post.
And how did you fix it?

@mmagos
G’day to you,BUT….is there a way to specify that I’d want people to be able to leave comments on only certain posts and not ALL?
Yes, there is a way to use selective comment settings on every post and page you create. Please start here so you understand the whole picture. Dashboard > Settings> Discussion
This is the main page for setting up commenting preferences. Take note of this > Default article settings
___Allow people to post comments on new articles
(These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)Scroll down further and take note of this > Other comment settings
Automatically close comments on articles older than ___ daysAs you can see the default setting can be to allow comments on all posts or to disallow them. However, we can over-ride the reader’s ability to leave comments on any posts or pages we create when we create them. Open a new post > Dashboard > Add New Post and scroll down to take a very close look at the module found under the editor box labeled > “Discussion”
___ Allow comments.
___ Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.This ^ is where you can over-ride the default setting for comments on any given post or page.
Hope this helps. :) -
Just saw that you wrote back. Thank you for this! I will take a look at this as soon as I can. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you!
