Comment order and online poll
-
can someone please help, is it possible to have the latest comments displayed first in my blog instead of the oldest?
and is it possible to make a voting poll, (online poll), thanks for the help. -
The order of comments is hard-coded into the theme, so unless you can find a theme that does this, I think you’re out of luck.
And while you can’t embed a poll right into your blog, luckypolls does have something that works with WordPress in a text widget, so look it over:

I do not think the order of comments is hard-coded into the theme. Plugins for commenting are available for the WordPress.org version. Some of these plugins have the latest comments at the top. It’s a functional requirement so it would not be hard-coded into the theme. The theme will determine the CSS touches for the comments part.

As I said, if you can’t find a code with that in the theme, you’re probably out of luck. All I can do is state what people have said in the past, that the order is hard-coded into the blogs and you’d need to find a theme that did it that way. If you find that WordPress.com blogs have flexibility in that order of display, please share it.

The order is actually hard coded into the core code. Line 67 currently in the standard WPMu code. The function is plugable though which is why you can change it via a plugin.
And the lucky polls that was suggested up above is pretty much the only work around we’ve been able to come up. Gotta admit thatI would like to see them here as well but, considering that they involve adding tables to the database, that’s probably why we haven’t seen a built in version yet.
