Comment Preview And Edit Feature (including user ability to delete comment)
-
I want to give commenters the ability to enter minimum HTML, and to delete their comments after they have been posted. Many of the commenters are used to Blogger themes where they can do this. I am interested in this feature for the Twenty-Ten and Newsy themes,
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Bob!
Currently, users cannot delete their comments from your site after they are posted. Only blog administrators at WordPress.com can delete comments. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to enable users to delete their comments from your site.
Regarding the HTML, basic functions like strong, em, blockquote, etc should work within the comment field. Are these the HTML tags you’re looking for?

Thanks, Jeremy. You have answered my questions. I don’t understand WHY a preview/delete feature is not currently available. Then, I don’t have to plan the features for hundreds of thousands of web sites. I hope something is coming down the pike, like a plug-in :-)
The HTML tags you mention will work OK. It would be nice to have some sort of reminder for commenters that they can use them.

Howdy Bob!
Regarding the preview/delete function for comments, one particular reason this isn’t allowed is to prevent readers from going back and adding additional commentary after a comment has been approved. Instead, we leave the ability to edit/delete/approve comments strictly in the hands of the blog administrators.

If you would like, you can edit the comment prompt to include a brief reminder about this:
