Comment Question – data share & retention when user logged into Facebook/Twitter
-
If logged into Facebook, Twitter, or WordPress when submitting a comment:
1. what data gets shared with the site administrator with the comment (user name, email address… what else)
AND
2. how long is the data received (user name, email address, etc) available to the site administrator. Will the IP address or the user name be deleted at some point by WordPress.com OR is that up to the site administrator to do?
~ Thanks

Hi there,
1. what data gets shared with the site administrator with the comment (user name, email address… what else)
The administrator of the site can see the name, email address, and IP address of the commenter.
2. how long is the data received (user name, email address, etc) available to the site administrator. Will the IP address or the user name be deleted at some point by WordPress.com OR is that up to the site administrator to do?
All that data (including the IP address) are held until the owner of the site deletes the comment.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

~ many thanks for the information you’ve shared and for your continued help!
Is it possible to send me a link to where this specific information is discussed in an Automattic policy document(s). Not due to any lack of trust in your knowledge, just that there are legal reasons I need to be perfectly clear on this and it can help to reference a document like a Privacy Policy/Terms of Service/etc.
