Comment replies not nesting when replying from wp-admin/edit-comments page

When I’m handling my comments from the wp-admin/edit-comments.php page, and click the ‘reply’ button, I’ve noticed that my replies are not “nesting” under the comment thread, but instead are appearing as a top-level comment. This is a relatively new issue for me (though I saw it reported back in 2009 when searching the forum).

When I start from this page:
https://gmoawareness.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.phpAnd choose the “Reply” link under the comment, everything appears to be functioning properly—as I type the button turns into “Reply and Approve.” However when I happen to view the comments on that page, I see that it did not actually “nest.”
When I noticed this, I decided to try the alternate form of replying: I approved the comment first, then went directly to the page to click the “Reply” link on the comment itself, and sure enough, the comment “nested” correctly.
Unfortunately I deleted several examples thinking I was just doing something wrong… so I only have one example left:
On this page, Anne Dietrich made several comments.
Her last comment on the page was replied to from the main Administrative Comment page:
http://gmo-awareness.com/about/
As you can see, my reply to her appears to be a new comment at the bottom of the page, rather than “nested under” her comment.On the same page, her 2nd to the last comment (containing two links) was approved first, then I went directly to the page and hit the “Reply” button, and it nested properly.
This is my only example, because when I noticed it was happening, I began approving comments first, and going directly to the page to reply.
Hopefully it was just a temporary hiccup? :-)

I see what you mean. It might have been a glitch though. You can try to remove the comment at https://gmoawareness.wordpress.com/wp-admin/comment.php?action=editcomment&c=30346 (click on the ‘move to trash’ link) and then reply to her comment again the same way as you did before.

Yes, I removed all of the other ones, just left this one so I could do a screenshot if requested. And yes, looks like it was just a 48 hour glitch, as things are working properly again now. Thanks kindly!
