Comment section funkyness for lengthy comments
-
This has happened on my site, when replying to a comment, a commenter noted that it happened to him when leaving a comment on my site, and I had to same issue when leaving a longer comment on another site, with a different theme. In all cases, Chrome was the browser used.
The issue is this (and sort of tough to explain):
When leaving a longer comment, and you reach the bottom of the comment box, it’s as if the comment box stops scrolling, and you can no longer see what it is you’re writing. If you stop and hit the return button, it will scroll to where you left off, and you can see what you’ve written, but then, when you hit the end of the comment box, the comment again doesn’t scroll upward, so you cannot see what you’re typing.

As I said, it’s happened to me, responding to a comment on my site, a reader mentioned it happened to him on my site, and, the other day, it happened when I left a longer comment on his site (he uses a different theme), and, also, when I left a comment on another site . It seems, a browser, rather than theme issue, since it’s happened on sites with different themes.

Thank you … I’d also add, that today I decided to try my Safari browser, and, the issue seems to happen with Safari as well.
The easiest way to see what’s going on is to just type a long comment …. type a passage from a book or something, and you’ll see what happens… and, don’t worry, I can always delete the comment if you accidentally post it. :-)

I’m using Firefox and IE and I don’t experience this in either; I get a slider bar on the right-hand side.
That is a stunning-looking blog by the way. Is it a premium theme? Did you have to fiddle with it much to get it to look like that?

Thank you … what a nice compliment. Though I cannot take too much credit.
It’s an upgrade theme … Publisher.
I changed the background, to give it a bit of texture — the original background is dark too … I changed the header, and a couple of fonts. That’s about it.
I think it’s one of the nicest of the upgrade themes, as far as looks … it’s got a lot to it, but, at the same time it’s rather minimal, if that makes sense. It’s just nice, clean lines, with minimal clutter.
Interesting that the comment issue is ok on IE and Firefox … I use a Mac, so perhaps that’s part of the issue .. and, my friend who said he had issues with it uses a tablet (and, there are some issues with embedded audio showing on iPad/iPhone… there’s another thread going with that issue …. so, who knows.
The theme has been a bit buggy, though it’s all been resolved quickly.

I like the theme because it displays a mosaic of articles, like Tumblr themes, but it includes the text, so you can actually see there is thinking rather than just reblogging going on.
There are reduced staffing levels on the weekend, but this should get sorted fairly soon.

… as today was my 30th day, I requested a refund, so the theme is no longer active on my site.
there is another, bigger issue, with the audio (discussion here:
http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/topic/audio-not-showing-on-ipadiphone?replies=8#post-35024)If these two issues get resolved, please let me know, as I really love the Publisher theme, and would consider repurchasing it, if the bugs get worked out.

Hi John,
I’ve just submitted a fix for this. There was a transition effect being applied when the comment box resized. Created a bit of jumpiness. Fix should be pushed live shortly.
