Comment text box
-
When I first put up a post, a comments box appears for potential replies. After reloading, I only get ‘Reply’ as a clickable word, with no sign of the comment box. How can I enable the comment box always?

Hi there,
When I visit your site I can see that the comment box is here, on the page that is dedicated to the full article: https://ragingagainstthedyingofthelight.wordpress.com/2021/08/11/not-quite-sans-ears-sans-everything/
Do you see the comment form if you view that link directly?
Please note that the comment form does not appear on your homepage (to save space) but it does appear on the page that is dedicated to it. If from your homepage you click on the link “leave a reply” it will redirect the commenter to the correct form so the can leave their thoughts there.
Hope this helps!

Thank you, that’s sorted that out! I’ve been using an unfamiliar (and quite old) theme, which worked finwe for another blog I’ve been writing.
The other problem I have is that the “Subscribe” widget box looks fine when I place it in the sidebar, and behaves as expected, but it does not appear when I view the posts from another computer or tablet or as another user – can you see it when you look?

I can see the widget here when I’m not logged into WordPress.com and when I’m logged in: screenshot https://d.pr/i/shatgc
NOTE: if you’re viewing your site on a mobile phone or tablet, the layout will change based on that and anything you put in your sidebar will show in your footer instead after your post or page content. Screenshot: https://d.pr/i/UknDRw
I hope that clarifies things!

It appears to be the fault of my adblocker in Firefox – the subscribe box appears very briefly, then vanishes if the blocker is turned on. Turn it off and reload and – there it is! Irritating…
