commentary/categories– HOW??

  REPOST FROM SUPPORT– Not trying to be impatient, just looking for a solution in a limited time frame, so I ask for leeway on the neediness/demanding front…

  I’ve spent a lot of hours lately trying to relearn everything after the Dec changes and I’m really thinking it’s not worth the trouble. Please help this neophyte if you can!

  1- I still cannot turn on the ‘enable comments’ on my post. I’ve read the support pages, but have not gotten an answer. Again, Settings > Discussion options are properly checked, yet nothing. (Windows XP/I Explorer / DSL)

  2- I just tried to add a category, and instead of the addition, the entire navigation side bar completely disappeared. WTH/eck?

  …I wish people would stop making things ‘easier’!!!

  I am using Cutline, should that make a difference—

  We cannot answer questions about your blog without a link to your blog, starting with http. Also, have you checked the Sidebar tag in the forums? That probably contains your answe3r about #2.

  With regard to #1, have you performed the Cookie Dance? Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart computer.

  Hi Rain,

  Thanks for the comments. My sidebar has reappeared as mysteriously as it had vanished.

  Yes to the dances- emptying, rebooting, defragging, scanning…I’ll try unplugging the computer, but that’s about all I haven’t tried.

  Just lost my addendum– truncated: Danced again, no change.

  Also, cannot add custom header- worked before but after changing to cutline, cannot add–have altered sizes and formats (jpeg, bitmap, ping)- nothing. Not using css.

  OKAY!! Quite by mistake I have opened commentary to a post, and include that information here in case one searching forum topics might be assisted.

  I have one page/one post. Post did not allow comments, page did. Wanted both to allow.

  Decided on whim to add a photo to my page (comments already allowed). Noticed in “edit” mode that the laundry list of features under the edit box OPEN on a double click. Had comments not been allowed for on the page, there would have been no indication that these list items were anything other than informational. Nothing highlights, changes in any way on hovering the cursor over the list displayed.

  Solution when Settings> Discussion> allow comments box checked does not work, do try a double click in the edit mode on the topic you are trying to resolve–in my case, “Discussion”.

  —-Still seeking assistance with the custom header. Insight, anyone?

  Re the header image: the source code of your page says the image doesn’t exist. You’ve probably tried to crop it when uploading it, which sometimes doesn’t work. Make sure you upload a version in the exact dimensions specified by the theme.
