commenting from non-wordpress accounts
-
Hi, it seems like people who don’t have a wordpress account can no longer leave messages on wordpress blogs! This is unacceptable! What is going on? I even removed the safety feature that people had to use an email address in order to comment on my blog but it still doesn’t work. I know for sure that this is happening on all wordpress blog because I am playing a game with more than 150 other participants and no one can leave comments on wordpress blogs if they don’t have a wordpress blog themselves. Please change this ASAP, it’s unbelievable that something like that could happen!
Thanks!

We’ve recently updated our commenting system.
Now if someone tries to comment with an email address that’s attached to a WordPress.com account, they’ll need to sign into WordPress.com before they can comment.
If commenters have forgotten their password they can request a reset:
http://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordIf someone tries to comment with an email that’s not tied to a WordPress.com account, they won’t need to sign up for an account (unless you’ve enabled this option at Settings -> Discussion).
I apologize for any frustration. Don’t hesitate to contact us again if you need anymore help. :-)

Yeah, thanks, I also got your email, but this is NOT the problem. This answer is pasted everywhere but we are NOT talking about people forgetting passwords, here. We are talking about hundreds of people being able to comment YESTERDAY and NOT TODAY. Please try to understand what is happening, instead of repeating the same useless message everywhere. Thank you.
