Commenting Issue
-
I’ve learned about an issue on my blog that has affected a number of my commenters. When they submit their comment, it does not post, but they receive no notification and lose the text of the comment itself. At least some of these examples have involved the use of HTML, which my setup doesn’t like. But they still have only learned their comment disappeared because they went to my site and it wasn’t there, not because they were notified of a failed attempt to comment. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi dkane47,
Thank you for explaining the issue you are facing on your blog website.
I have a few questions regarding your issue.
1. Was the commenting on your blog posts working fine before, if yes, were there any changes made to the blog posts from your end?
2. When your commenters are trying to post a comment, with or without HTML, on clicking on the Post Comment button, their content is getting lost and the page reloads without the posted comment? And the commenter is not notified of the failure to comment? There is a chance that your comments are getting marked spam by Akismet by mistake. Can you please check if they are getting added as Spam Comments? Here is a link which can help you out with it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/

Hi there,
To help us review further, can you check if these comments do appear here:
https://fivetwelvethirteen.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php
I was thinking that maybe the comments are appearing under “Pending” or “Trash”
Looking forward to hear from you soon!
Thanks,
Gideon
