commenting issues on othe blogs
-
I´m having the same problem. I tried to comment on Blogger blogs (two different today, one of which I commented only yesterday without any problems) and got the message “you do not own that identity”.

I don’t know whether it’s gonna help but a similar problem was occurring 6 years ago when people forgot the trailing “/” at the end of the OpenID URL:

I’ve got the same problem: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/error-you-do-not-own-that-identity?replies=2#post-2147377
Until 2 days ago I didn’t have any trouble commenting on Blogger blogs, but since yesterday I receive that defect note whenever I’m trying to post a comment. It’s so annoying!
I didn’t do a thing – I didn’t download or update anything, I didn’t change any settings, nothing!@gouessej the slash didn’t work for me.

What was described is the EXACT same thing that happened to me. It happened very recently, I believe it was also last Thursday.

Nothing works, I started on Feb 2014 commenting on Blogger using open ID with my WordPress.com and since today (25-11-2014) I cannot comment due to an ERROR “You do not own that identity.”. Why now? Should I quit WordPress.com and move to Blogger?

Why now? Should I quit WordPress.com and move to Blogger?
Suit yourself please, but as you have no idea if Blogger commenting issue issue is caused by OpenID software changes, or Blogger software changes doing that doesn’t make much sense. That’s assuming, of course that you don’t have some specific information gained from direct communication with Blogger support Staff, or with OpendID staff that you forgot to post here.

After a read all subjects on this matter and follow all the steps to the possible solution, cleaning cookies, cache and also trying WordPress username instead of open ID, the conclusion is simple all failed.
When i said “Why now and should i quit WordPress.com and move to blogger” was intended to know where the error comes from.

@timethief The problem seems to come from WordPress.com as it is reproducible with other services than Blogger (in my case stackoverflow.com).
I don’t see the interest of moving to Blogger, other OpenID providers can have some occasional technical problems too.
As a general principle, I encourage people to avoid putting all their eggs into the same basket, use several OpenID providers. If I did it, I wouldn’t be stuck. By the way, I seriously think about self-hosting my blog on a low power server at home and doing the same for the rest (email, versioning, videos, …) as I would be better served by myself.

Hi everyone, thanks for your additional reports. At this stage I’ve reported your concerns to our team so they can investigate it to see if this is something we can resolve on our end. I don’t have any updates about it yet, but I’ll post here as soon as I know more.

Yeah, still not working :(
Someone already told what systems he/she is using. I have OS x 10.10.1 and Safari 8.0., if that might make difference. Probably not tho.

ditto to all above – tried all suggestions, same error message. thanks, timethief, for trying to help. ~

It works anew in my case. I don’t know whether it is completely repaired. Thank you very much.
-
I use several OpenID URLs as fallbacks now so that the next time WordPress.com OpenID stops working, I will be less annoying for me and I advise you to do the same.
-
Thanks for posting the update here, timethief. :) Our team launched a fix for this issue today. If anyone continues to have trouble commenting on other blogs, please start a new forum thread so we can help with that separately.
