commenting on blogspot from wordpress

    My blog on wordpress.com is set to private. I have tried to post a comment on a Blogspot blog. When I click on ‘post comment’ I get a message “your OpenID credentials could not be verified”. Is this because of my privacy settings?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Yes, it is. Probably better to choose Name, URL if it’s available. Your blog will still be private, but your comment will go through.

    Thank you Raincoaster, your help is appreciated.

    I’m also getting the “Your OpenID credentials could not be verified” whenever I try to post a comment on a Blogger site. My blog is not set to private and on there isn’t an option for Name/URL on the two Blogger sites I’m trying to post on. Anybody got any ideas of how to get round this? Thanks.

    I always find commenting on blogspot blogs a rea pain in the a#$. There is a post button and a comment button but I seem to have to press all of them umpteen times before the comment posts. Worse if they have that captcha thing activated. Arrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

    Open-ID is always hit and miss so I abandoned using it altogether. Unless the blogger has set up their comments so for Username and URL like raincoaster said above I cannot comment on Blogger (blogspot) blogs. There is no work around.

    Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and knowledge, teamoyeniyi and timethief. I guess those Blogger bloggers will have to get along without the benefit of our important opinions!!

    There are Blogger blogs that I comment on regularly. When I made the bloggers who kept them aware of my inability to comment on their posts like they commented on mine they changed their settings so I could comment.

    I meant a post button and a PREVIEW (not comment) button! *head-desk*

    @teamoyeniyi
    I know what you mean but that problem only surfaces if I use an IE browser. I use Firefox and the issue does not arise. Have you tried switching browsers?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Actually, good point TiTi. I haven’t. Next time I’ll try Chrome – I don’t use Firefox. But the browser could be the issue, I agree. I tend to IE for everything except drafting my own posts, as WP and IE seem to squabble quite a bit!

    Maybe IE and Blogspot have an equally fractious relationship!

    By the way, those blogs with no option for Name/URL are basically trying to force you to register with Blogspot so you can comment. Some people get a blogger ID just for that purpose, and never use the blog.
