Commenting on Comments
-
Hi, I am a school teacher and I want my students to comment on other student’s comments, is that possible? When I post new comments they also just add to the bottom of the comment list, they don’t tree (or branch) from the comment I am trying to comment on. Does that make sense and is there a way to do what I am looking for?

We do not yet have nested comments, sorry. There is not a way to produce this and people can only address other commenters in their own comment.

It seems that the common etiquette to the following:
@mrsdaugherty, (comment towards mrsdaugherty here)to address another comment in a thread.
or also
@ mrsdaugherty, "does that make any sense?"
(comment answering a specific question here)These work well once you get used to see them in a comment thread.

You don’t have to add at the bottom. You can insert your comment in between other comments by editing the date/time of your comment. However, branching is till not possible, but still better than just adding at the bottom.
Replying to, editing and moving comments in TypePad versus WordPress

Also, some themes (e.g. Andreas 09 & Misty Look) number the comments, making for easier reference.

Thanks! That answers my question. I will use the instructions given by dlager, to have my students post!
Have a GREAT day!
