Comments & Registering on Blogs (really dumb, I know)
-
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand.
If I want to leave a comment on a blog post do I need to register for that blog in order to have my username linked back to my blog, or do I just fill out the name/emai/website and it will link back to me automatically?
Pardon my ignorance, but I’m old!

on wordpress blogs, comment away to your hearts content, and your username will be the link as it is, regardless of emailaddress.
That what you mean? -
What I mean is on a comment field (I was wanting to comment on a post) it asked for my username & password, or type in my info. I tried my username that I use to access my blog and it didn’t work. I assumed that with my info I could use that on any blog, but then surmised that I was wrong. So… If I type in my name/email/website (and use my blog url) will my name be a clickable link to my blog?
I hope that made sense.

If you were logged in and it was a wordpress.com blog, you shouldn’t have seen those fields. If you were not logged in, complete the name/email/website fields and yes, your name will be clickable to your blog.

Yeah, you log in with your regular WordPress.com login and password… the same one you use for your personal WordPress.com blog. Make sure you check the “remember me” box, too. You don’t need to do any further registration at the individual’s blog you’re commenting on…

Kopper, I just checked your blog for my comment on your beautiful new dog and it didn’t link back to me. I’m sure I had my url in my profile at that time. I wonder what happened there… Maybe I didn’t. Perhaps I’ll comment again to do a test.

hey – do not ever put your password into pages you don’t really know!! Never ever.
Guessing that was a blog with a login for a bunch of admins (and possibly not a wordpress.com blog).
On wordpress.com blogs your username will be clickable back to your blog regardless of what email you fill in.
