Why is my friends comments all of a sudden showing up as Anonymous?

Which friends? Do they have WordPress.com username accounts? Is this an example? http://ponderingsofaseekingheart.com/2014/04/02/dying-to-self/comment-page-1/#comment-58 What was the username that person typed into the comment field?

Yes ma’am, that’s the one and his user name is Poppa Kay and he’s commented on a lot of my posts and it always showed his pic and name until a few days ago.

I do see a comment here from him in Google’s cache http://ponderingsofaseekingheart.com/2014/02/24/im-a-kept-woman/comment-page-1/#comment-31

It looks like PoppaK is indeed a username on WordPress.com. However, it is possible for someone to have a WordPress.com account, but appear anonymous in the comment section. This could happen if the commenter was not logged into their WordPress.com account and did not use the email address associated with the account. It looks like that was the case here. The commenter’s email address was not associated with their account so it didn’t register their Gravatar or username. Does that make sense?
