1.When someone clicks on “Leave a comment” it goes to the blog. Want a form to come up but it does not.
Have followed all the suggestions in settings>discussion and checked appropriate boxes.

    2. From what I’ve read a box is supposed to come up when you are writing a post called DISCUSSION.
and it is checked in my screen options but does not appear.

    Suggestions please: http://www.vikingsays.wordpress.com

    Thanking you,

    Mary

Hi Mary. The way of enabling/disabling comments in a particular post is explained in detail here, including what to do if you can’t find the Discussion Module…
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#enabling-and-disabling-comments-using-the-discussion-module
Please let us know if that helps.

Thanks for your help but the box for “Discussion” was checked in the Screen options.
    Another idea?

    @hawkeyesviking
We frequently get asked about this and what we find is that members are not looking in the correct place to find the Discussion module located below their posts and pages editor box.

Click add on new post and look below the editor box.

Another thing we run into is that people don’t understand that front pages of blogs are designed to showcase posts and on front pages comment boxes are collapsed. When until a visitor clicks the Title of the Post or Page or the “leave comments” link the post or page will open and be fully displayed on a page of it’s own where all comments on it can be viewed.

It doesn’t show there. Here is a link to it:

Am most appreciative of your help.
Here is a link to the opening page so you can see for yourself
that the comment form doesn’t come up (as I wish for a commenting person
    to give his email): http://www.vikingsays.wordpress.com

    Thanks for your help,

I do not find a comment box at all on this post > http://vikingsays.wordpress.com/2011/05/21/viking-x-honey/

Will you please go to this page a> Settings > Discussion and be sure you have set up default commenting preferences there? http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#e-mail-me-whenever

Did get half of the problem solved: In the editing page, the screen options at the top
I checked comments, but not discussion, so that solved leaving a comment.

However the requirement of leaving a name and address on a form, as asked for in Discussion settings, is not working.

Here is the opening post page, so you can see:

    You are appreciated,

    Mary

    Mary,
Unless you log out of wordpress.com you cannot see what visitors can see. I logged out and then I left a test comment. The email field is a required field just as you wanted and your comments are working correctly.

WordPress.com uses cookies to keep track of commenters so if someone makes a comment on your blog, the next time they come to your blog, unless they have cleared their cookies, WordPress.com will recognize them and complete the details for them. No one else will be able to view those details. The next person who comments will see blank fields. Commenters will not see each other’s details.

Thanks timethief. Wish I had your experience.

When going to another computer IT WORKED, giving me a form.
When loggingout on my mac and logging back in, it continued to
leave a required field, guessing because i’m the Admin. Am guessing
this because even after logging out and back in the bar at the top
continued to be seen, the one that says: “my account” “my blog” etc

My I email you in the future at your yahoo address or would you rather
I continued to go to “HELP” at wordpress?

    You helped me A LOT,

    thanking you with joy,

    Mary

    Mary,
If you have logged out of wordpress.com, cleared your browser cache and cookies and visited your own blog without logging in, then you would not have had to use another computer. Whenever anything goes wonky or does not work do this > http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

Please do not email me for support questions. Please post here to the support forum and the Volunteers will answer you.

    Happy Blogging! :)

P.S. The blog linked to my username in the test comment is to my personal blog and the email address is for my personal blog. If you click my username here in this thread you will find my blogging tips blog.
