Comments and registration– technical question

  If I check “comment author must fill out name and email,” is there anything preventing someone using a fake name or fake email address?

  If i check “users must be registered and logged in to comment,” what does that actually mean? How do they “register and log in”? What information is asked for? Do they have to log in every time they want to post a different comment?

  THANKS. Right now I allow open and anonymous commenting. I want to tighten up, but don’t want to make it so difficult people will be deterred from commenting.

  2. A username and an email address is all that we can require on a public blog.
